When recruiting companies to attend the Leaders Summit, we would like to indicate that the Leaders Summit 2010 will offer an excellent platform for participating companies to demonstrate their actions to support sustainability:

In collaboration with Ruder-Finn, Creative Partner of the Leaders Summit, the Global Compact Office is producing a brief, seven-minute video for the Summit Gala Dinner, which will celebrate the Global Compact’s 10th anniversary. Blending statements by Global Compact participants with historical footage and encouraging images of positive action on the ground, the video will be an inspiring and entertaining journey through the Global Compact’s evolution.

The official Participants of the Global Compact are invited to the first General Assembly of the Global Compact Network Belgium (GNCB). During this meeting, we will charter the GCNB (as a non-for-profit organization) and elect a Steering Committee, in order to create a governance structure that will facilitate our network's funding and governance.

On 25./26 November, the GTZ's Sino-German CSR Project and our Centre for Cooperation with the Private Sector organize an exchange of experience among businesses and experts in Brussels:

On October 15, 2009 the Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yves Leterme, opened the Outreach Event during which the Global Compact Network Belgium (www.globalcompact.be) was officially launched.

The Global Compact is a program from the United Nations that encourages more responsible and sustainable business practices.

Since 2001, the UN Global Compact forms a global leadership network for businesses and their CEO’s, offering a unique strategic platform to advance sustainability and responsible business practices.

On 15 October 2009, the Global Compact Network Belgium will be formed under the auspicious of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yves Leterme, representatives of the European Commission, the United Nations and Belgian business leaders.

On June 18th we have our first Task Force meeting, with the goal to establish a formal network for the UN Global Compact in Belgium by the end of 2009. We invite current Global Compact signatories and stakeholder organizations and institutions to participate in this meeting and to actively contribute in the reactivation of our network activities.
