Maximizing engagement by joining the Belgian Network

Download the brochureThe General Assembly in February 2010 marked the effective set up of the Belgian Network and the election of a Steering Committee with the support of the Federal Public Service, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Cooperation.

The Belgian Network exists to assist the private sector in the challenge to apply the Global Compact principles and establish a platform for their implementation in the specific context of the country.
In close cooperation with other Global Compact local networks, the Belgian Network has the unique role in raising awareness to the local business community, both large- and small-size local stakeholders on how to think globally but act locally, and thus facilitating and building capacity to develop unique solutions to the major environmental, social and development issued faced by communities, nations and individuals today across the globe.

The ultimate goal is to create a benchmark in Belgium across different industries in cooperation with UN Global Compact Head Office New York, the academic world and other organizations in the CSR Belgian landscape.

Let us take the best practices of UN Global Compact signatory companies in Belgium and feature them on the global sustainability platform.

The key goals of The Belgian Network are:

  • to provide Belgian signatories with a facility to consider and advance issues of mutual interest and concern
  • to provide a mechanism through which performance and reporting on UN Global Compact principles can be improved by mutual support
  • to enable participants to share and exchange practice and experience
  • to provide input to the Global Compact on its future development and activity
  • to promote the Global Compact principles throughout the Belgian business community
  • to help promote and support the Global Compact worldwide
